Hello & Nice to meet you

I am a self-taught artist who explores whimsical world-building and dream-like landscapes through the lens of digital photography, color, styling, and character development. Balancing the undertones of darker emotion with light, bright, spacious open-air images allows me to express these aspects of the human experience in a way that still brings the viewer joy and visual rest. I’ve had a camera around my neck since 2010, and come from a diverse photography background ranging from photojournalism, branding, and portraiture, to landscape and lifestyle, and have worked for a range of clients such as Disney, Pixar, and Unsplash. I spent most of my life in small town Indiana and then made my way to the beautiful southwest in 2017. This change in scenery inspired and molded my work into what it is today. Now coming back to my roots with a recent move to Nashville, Tennessee, I am re-inspired by the lush green grass and southern charms surrounding me.

My work has been shown throughout the Phoenix area, published nationally, and recognized internationally.

I am currently based in Nashville, TN.

RECOGNITIONS, FEATURES, AND SHOWINGS:

  • I was a finalist in the 2026 “Colors” Photography competition for an image in my “UBIETY” series, narrowed down to a shortlist of 20 out of hundreds of international entries. Here is what they said: Surreal, artful, and profound, this fine art image plays with your mind while raising powerful emotions. The effect is part due to the whimsical disparition, part due to the choice of colors. The subject and the background are dressed in analogous colors, which makes them feel like part of a whole. At the same time, the subject ignores the surroundings to the point that they leave the place entirely. Such a simple way to deal with such a complex concept! – LIFE FRAMER

  • You can now find my framed and unframed prints exclusively at The Den in Nashville, TN. among other local art.

  • I was awarded Best Fashion & Beauty Image in the 2024 Unsplash Awards. Here is a word from the judge who picked my image: "For me this image is particularly successful due to the strong sense of narrative Alyssa has imbued. The skilled use of light, simple props and posing has a cinematic quality and the detached gaze of the model in the almost liminal setting is intriguing. The muted palette which is carried throughout the image is particularly successful, with the pop of colour from the earring in the centre of the frame drawing the viewer's eye."  Robin Key - Visuals Director at GQ
